Olivier matches season-high as Chargers hammer Olive-Harvey to round out regular season
GALESBURG — Larry Olivier Jr. tied a season-high with 17 points and the Sandburg men's basketball team never trailed in an 82-61 Sophomore Day triumph Saturday against Olive-Harvey.
KEY MOMENTS
• Ralph Wires kicked off the scoring with a 3-pointer 35 seconds into the contest as the Chargers (18-12) scored the game's first 11 points in the opening 4:00.
• Sandburg went into halftime with a 44-27 lead as it closed with a 12-3 burst in the last 2:45. Olivier scored seven points during that stretch, including 3s on both ends of it. The Chargers retained a double-digit lead for the entire second half.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Olivier led five Chargers in double figures as he connected on a season-best five 3s. The freshman from Rock Island was 5 of 12 overall from the floor and 5 for 11 from long distance. His 17 points tied his previous best, set Dec. 17 against McHenry County. Saturday's contest was also Olivier's first double-digit scoring effort since that McHenry County performance, a span of 17 games.
