Sluder scores career-high 34, but Chargers’ 7-game streak stopped in OT at Madison

MADISON, Wis. — Logan Sluder went off for a career-best 34 points, but the Sandburg men's basketball team's seven-game win streak was snapped in a 101-95 overtime loss at Madison at Saturday.

Sluder finished 12 of 17 from the field, connected on 3 of 7 3-point tries and was 7 of 9 at the free-throw line. The sophomore guard blew past his previous career high of 27 points, set Nov. 5 against Lincoln Land. That game, coincidentally, also went into OT. Sluder also had team-highs of eight rebounds and four steals in Saturday's defeat.

The Chargers (16-9) had an 82-80 lead with 20 seconds left in regulation after Ethan Price sank the second of two free throws. The WolfPack, though, forced the extra period after JP Pleasant's layup with :09 to play. Madison never trailed in overtime as it scored seven of the first nine points.

Sluder scored 19 of the Chargers' 35 first-half points, but Sandburg trailed by nine at intermission. The Chargers bounced back by shooting 67 percent (14 of 21) from the field in the second half.

Price totaled 15 points and six rebounds. The sophomore from Fulton was 9 of 12 at the foul line. Tyler Heffren finished with 13 points and six boards for the Chargers. Matt Bockman and Davante Bradford each scored nine for Sandburg.

Pleasant's 31 points and 11 rebounds on 11-of-18 shooting paced Madison. The WolfPack also had double-digit outings from Ryan Jones (21), Jackson Bertagnoli (13), Jevon Campbell (12) and George Whaley IV (12).
