Babers Tallies 15 for Chargers in Road Loss to Golden Eagles

ROCKFORD — The Carl Sandburg College men's basketball team took a lead into halftime but couldn't hang on in an 81-68 loss at Rock Valley on Thursday.

The Chargers (11-11) led 41-37 at the break after shooting 49 percent (17 of 35) from the field in the opening half, but the host Golden Eagles outscored Sandburg 44-27 in the final 20 minutes. An 8-0, go-ahead run gave Rock Valley a 56-49 lead with 11:17 to go.

Sophomore Jeremiah Babers led the Chargers in scoring with 15 points on 6 of 16 shooting. Babers also pulled in six rebounds, handed out a team-best five assists and collected a steal.

Freshman Logan Sluder delivered 13 points off the bench as he connected on 5 of his 9 field goals, including 1 of 2 3-pointers.

Rock Valley had four players reach double figures, led by Adonis Thomas with a game-best 18 points.
