ROCKFORD — Tyrese Grose finished with 17 points, but the Carl Sandburg College men's basketball team's season came to an end with a 117-52 loss Thursday at Rock Valley in the quarterfinals of the Region IV Division II District 4 tournament.
Grose led the Chargers in scoring on 8-of-15 shooting while also playing a team-best 37 minutes. The freshman forward also pulled down five rebounds.
Sophomore Hunter Caves was 6 of 10 from the field for 13 points in his final game as a Chargers. He matched Grose for the team lead with five boards.
Third-seeded Rock Valley hit 14 of 25 3-pointers on the night and shot 65 percent overall for the contest. The Golden Eagles' Antonio Leavy led all players with 20 points.
